Capacity Building Webinar: Role of international carbon markets in India

Role of international carbon markets in India

Carbon markets are used by countries and companies to purchase carbon offsets, which allow them to claim emission reductions even if they have not achieved these through their own actions. A multitude of emission reduction projects have been implemented across the world to generate such carbon offsets, and regulations have been adopted at the UNFCCC.  2021 marks the start of a new era for carbon markets, as new international rules will govern their use.

Carbon Market Watch in association with ParyavaranMitra invites civil society organizations, academic institutes, policy makers, researchers and other interested to participate in webinar on role of international carbon markets in India. Drawing on knowledge and experience we seek to build bottom-up participation in an effort to monitor the real-world impacts of projects implemented in the global south and to support advocacy campaigns towards governments on the establishment of strong safeguards in international markets, as adopted through the UNFCCC negotiations.
